Christmas is a special occasion of wonderful moments that people share with family and friends. When we think of this celebration, most tend to feel the need of an absolutely right selection of food. When it comes to cooking for Christmas, some people says it can be a chore or it can be fun, depending on the cook's mood. Perhaps if you do last-minute rush cooking on Christmas Day, then it's really a chore.
There are many recipes that you can use only at this time of year and I think it's a pleasure doing them. Coming from a British family, many of my memories and recipes are typically British. But I have a cookbook that has best traditional American Christmas recipes from the each of the US states. I enjoy the many pictures from Christmases of the past in America.
The first time I made a chocolate dessert, I was very nervous that I wouldn't be able to get it to look like these traditional cakes. I found it much easier than expected. It is also one of my favourite cakes to eat. Another regular on my list of treats to make for Christmas are Chocolate Truffles. They are very easy to make and I usually do them on December 23rd so they are ready for the holiday. Then it's just a question of stopping people eating them before then.
Whatever you choose to cook for Christmas, it is always nice and kind to have food on the table for the family and guests. Sausage rolls are popular during this holiday too, although they are eaten throughout the year as a snack. These are made from rolls of sausage meat wrapped in shortcrust or puff pastry. Just like mince pies, I make these myself for Christmas although I don't bother to make sausage rolls at any other time. If we want them anytime during the rest of the year, we buy them.
